A firmware update improves image quality and allows certain respites

Sony's NEX-7 will be receiving its new firmware version, 1.01, soon, today actually (October 18, 2012), if it hasn't already.

That means that not only will owners of the camera get to enjoy a sharper image quality (when shooting photos with wide-angle lenses), but a certain, severe annoyance will be removed.

Previously, the movie record button was quite easy to tap. That made it likely for the function to be initiated in the worst possible moments.

With the new firmware, users will have the option of disabling it.

Other additions that the software upgrade brings include NEX-5R/NEX-6 Hybrid AF functionality with older lenses, various lens compensation options (for select Alpha optics), an option to disable the EVF eye sensor, improved audio playback, and expanded EV bracketing.

Obviously, a Wi-Fi access point will be needed to carry out the update process.
