Frugalware, a general purpose Linux operating system designed for intermediate users (who are not afraid of text mode), has reached version 1.9 Pre2 and is now available for testing.

Frugalware 1.9 Pre2 has been dubbed Arcturus and it's in the works for eight months. This is the first public testing of his new branch.

Highlights of Frugalware 1.9 Pre2 (Arcturus):

• netconfig has been replaced with nmconfig; • The entire collection of tools from frugalwareutils has been replaced by the standalone mode of the new installer; • The installer's partitioner is no longer exposing the boot medium as a partitionable device;

A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement.

Download Frugalware 1.9 Pre2 (Arcturus) right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
