Frugalware, a general purpose Linux distribution, designed for intermediate users (who are not afraid of text mode), is now at version 1.6 RC1.

Frugalware 1.6 RC1, codename Fermus, has just a few important updates and hundred of smaller fixes.

It's finally made it out of the tehnical release stages and became a fully fledged release candidate, which means there won't be many changes from now on, before the final version.

The most important update is the Linux 3.1.8 kernel. Mozilla Firefox also received an update and now it's at version 9.0.1, Cinnamon desktop is available as an installable package, and Fwlive is back after being absent for six development cycles.

Download Frugalware 1.6 RC1. right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a release candidate and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
