In the beginning of this week, mobile phone carrier Sprint started the delivery of a new software update for one of the most appealing devices on its airwaves, the Samsung Epic 4G, offering users a taste of the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

The software update was already delivered to a series of users, but it seems that Samsung and the wireless carrier decided to pull it down, as it caused various issues for users.

Both the Over-the-air (OTA) and the manual update were brought down, as users reported problems related to data connectivity and with the microSD cards.

Samsung reportedly confirmed these issues with the new software, and said that those who tried the EB13 update and were affected should do a hard reset of their devices to resolve the problems.

In order to hard reset the smartphone, users would have to do the following:

1. Turn off your phone 2. Hold the volume down, camera and power buttons until the system recovery screen appears. 3. Use the volume keys to scroll to wipe data/factory reset and select that option using the home key. 4. You will see a warning on the screen telling you that you are about to reset your phone and erase all your personal information. 5. Press the volume up key to proceed. Press the volume down button to exit and not reset your phone. 6. After the reset is complete, use the home key to select reboot system now. 7. Your phone will turn off and turn back on.

Before making this move, users should back up all data on their Epic 4G devices, so as to make sure they won't lose important or personal files on their smartphones.

Additional info on this software update for the Epic 4G would be available on Sprint's website here.

Unfortunately, no specific details on when might the software update return to Sprint's website emerged for the time being. Stay tuned to learn the news as soon as more info is available.
