The upcoming Windows Phone 7 is only one of the mobile operating systems Dell is reportedly interested in. After info on two new handsets the computer maker is working on (Lightning, a Windows Phone 7 device, and Thunder, powered by Android 2.1), news on two other phones from it emerged, both running under the forthcoming Froyo version of Google's OS, namely the Dell Flash and Dell Smoke. The same as previously reported on phones, the two new devices come with appealing looks, while boasting great features too.

Dell Flash is a touchscreen handset powered by a Qualcomm MSM7230 chip clocked in at 800MHz. The handset sports a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, image stabilization and smile / blink detection, 512MB of RAM and the same amount of ROM, and support for up to 64GB of additional storage space via support for microSD memory cards. On the connectivity side, we can count Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, TV-out, 3.5mm headphone jack, or 850 / 1900 / 2100MHz HSPA at up to 14.4Mbps on the downlink.

And the list of leaked Dell handsets that emerged on Engadget continues with Dell Smoke, a Palm Pixi-like Android phone. This device should arrive on the market sometime in the second quarter of the next year with a 2.8-inch QVGA display and QWERTY keyboard in a candybar form factor. Qualcomm's next-gen MSM7230 processor at 800MHz will power this beauty, which is expected to deliver a 5-megapixel camera with auto focus, 14.4Mbps HSPA, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR connectivity options, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

As stated above, both phones are set to land on the market with Android Froyo on board, on top of which Dell is expected to throw that so-called “Stage UI” spotted on Thunder. The Flash should land in the first quarter of the next year with AT&T and globally, though Engadget says that it's still not certain whether it will be AT&T-branded. As for Smoke, no details on which markets it might arrive in have been unveiled for the time being. Additional info on these handsets are available at Engadget, here and here, for Flash and Smoke, respectively.
