Over the weekend, we were encouraging you to get into the Christmas spirit with a little help from the cutest porcupine around, Teddy Bear. Today, we'll be turning to the past to get the job done.

Whitney Houston's more recent musical releases have gotten a lot of people talking about how she's lost her once-amazing voice and how that's supposed to be a huge letdown.

If you happen to be one of these people, it's always a good idea to turn to the past.

Even if you're not and you think, like us, that Whitney's voice has changed but not necessarily for the worse, there's no better way of getting into the spirit of the holidays than with this diva.

The video above was shot in 1996 (audio's a bit off because of it) and it shows a powerful rendition of “I Love the Lord / Joy to the World.”

This version of “Joy” was initially included on the “Preacher's Wife” score, officially the biggest selling gospel album of all time.

Say what you will about Whitney today, but she was definitely an amazing, one of a kind artist. Nothing better to help you get your festive cheer on than the clip above.
