The Taiwanese monitor-maker is taking a shot at the tablet market

AOC is a company best known for making PC monitors, but it shouldn’t surprise us that it has gotten into the tablet business as well.

After all, if supermarket chains can do it, why not monitor-makers. AOC has been showing off new Android tablet models, with 7-inch, 8-inch, and 10-inch displays, respectively (via Pbhz).

At the moment, there’s no clear indication of whether AOC wants to offer these slates globally or just in its home country, Taiwan. Anyway, if you were wondering what kind of tablets these might be, the spec sheets indicates that they are going to be average, regular Android slates, the kind you usually see come out of China.

Let’s take the 8-inch model for instance; it comes with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and bears a Rockchip RK3188 ARM Cortex-A9 quad-core processor inside. There’s also two cameras, 5MP on the back and 2MP on the front.

The tablet boasts a metal body and has support for 3G WCDMA cellular networks. The AOC 7-inch and 10-inch tablets are equipped with RK3188 chips and have IPS displays. There’s a little improvement in the photo department, where the frontal snapper has been upgraded to 3MP.

Pricing specifications aren’t available at the moment, but we will probably see the tablets sell for super affordable prices.
