And it's all because of a deal with Liquipel, the maker of a certain microscopic coating

Jawbone wanted prospective buyers of its Jambox wireless Bluetooth speakers to have an extra reason to buy the things, so it made a deal to waterproof all of them.

It won't come for free, but if you're the sort of person that likes pool parties or the rain, or just travels a lot and doesn't want to fear the rain more than usual, you can get the Jambox and Jambox mini coated by Liquipel.

Liquipel is the inventor of a microscopically thin coating of liquid repellent.

Said repellent is normally used on the insides of certain high-tech devices in the world, but now it is available for your convenience if you buy Jawbone's products.

The coating will be applied to both the exterior and the interior of the Bluetooth speaker, with IPX-5 certification, meaning that as long as you don't submerge them underwater, you can take them to the beach, to the bath, etc.

You might even get away with short, accidental dunks. Just don't push it.
