Return of Image-Spam!

You know spam, it's been your "friend" for years, everyday, just clogging your Inbox and sometimes getting you annoyed. And you already know, it's been through a lot of changes - at first there was just text spam, then the spam filter came and spam got better, inserting images, then there was a better filter, and spammers used PDF files but those were inefficient, so now, image spam has returned and it's "stronger". The new wave of image spam uses three-dimensional images, but don't worry, you don't need any special glasses to see them!

Now, don't get excited, it's not anything colorful and beautiful that you would stare at for hours, it's just a 3D image, it doesn't move and it doesn't look too well either. It's not 3D text, it's just the same old image spam, only now, instead of just adding some noise to the image so that it looks different for every user, they've added a sort of 3D look to it. The text is just stretched, skewed, sheared and given a little bit of perspective. You can do this in any basic image editing program. Not in Paintbrush, but GIMP 2 sure can do it. You can see what it looks like here.

In any case, this is just a new trick that they use to bypass spam filters, it's not bound to have any better effect on users, as it looks like crap. Initially I was thinking that this is pretty complicated, since the bot that they use would have to be larger in size to spam like this. But then again, spammers own huge botnets, virtual machines and stuff like that, so this isn't much of an issue for them.

Spam is spam, no matter how it looks, so please do the world a favor and when you get one of these unwanted messages, do report it as spam. Other users won't receive it and it will help spam filters a lot!
