'Friends with Kids' Trailer: Conventional Comedy on Unconventional Experiment

The first trailer for the star-studded comedy “Friends with Kids” is here. If you think the film is like “Friends with Benefits,” only with kids added into the mix, you might be right. Just multiply the number of “friends.”

Starring Jennifer Westfeldt, Adam Scott, Jon Hamm, Megan Fox, Edward Burns, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Chris O’Dowd, the film is slated for a March 9, 2012 release.

It tells the story of a close-knit group of friends, captured right at the moment when children come into the picture and change everything, including the dynamic of the group.

The singles of the group, though, decide to go about parenthood in an unconventional way, by having the baby together without actually being a couple.

This might not be a novel idea, but the trailer promises it will play out in a different manner than in other movies of the kind, even if it will still be plagued by predictability and clichés.

“This unconventional 'experiment' leads everyone in the group to question the nature of friendship, family and, finally, true love,” says the synopsis of the film.
