The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is set to be launched in a couple of weeks and the developers have offered some more details on how players can interact with the dragons who are invading the game world, saying that there's a small chance that some encounters will not end up in violence.

Speaking to Gamespot Pete Hines, one of the leading developers at Bethesda working on the open world game, said, “In general, dragons are evil. Their return is a very bad thing. Might there be exceptions and nuances to that? Possibly. I wouldn’t want to say anything beyond that. But this is not a game where, like, ‘no, dragons are our friends and we just have to learn to get along!’”

He added, “This is not How to Train Your Dragon. This is how to kill a whole bunch of very mean things that have come to kill and hurt people.”

The dragons are central to both the gameplay and the story of Skyrim and players will need to fight the flying beasts in order to get access to their souls, which can give them new sets of powerful shouts.

Battling a dragon will be one of the toughest parts of the game, as the beasts need to be first taken down from the sky and then killed, which can be difficult given their powerful abilities and armored hide.

Pete Hines also talked about the new Radiant engine storytelling for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and said that it's designed to work in the background, with the player rarely noticing its effects, which might include things like switching a tough encounter with a more casual one to allow the player to advance his character.

Skyrim will be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on November 11 all over the world.
