Jason is back and he’s as terrifying as ever

Hollywood has a long history of remakes and sequels, with most of them being well below what fans or critics deem acceptable. Be that as it may, it seems that Marcus Nispel’s “Friday the 13th” is not among those, the horror flick already generating a lot of media coverage, which is about to get even more impressive as a series of new stills have just been made available.

Directed by the man also responsible for the 2003 “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and produced by none other than Michael Bay, “Friday the 13th” is, because of its very nature, a film on which details are scarce, mostly because of the MPAA. Other than the official information that is properly filtered, it cannot enjoy the same promotion as, say, movies that do not fall in the slasher category. However, every once in a while, stills like these two do get out, escaping the long arm of the MPAA.

Useless to say, these stills, even if not showing much, have already managed to get fans of the genre, and especially of Jason movies, all excited. Whereas it was already common knowledge that Jason would be back, deadlier and harder to stop than ever, the stills confirm that, indeed, come February 13, 2009, we’re in for a genuine bloodbath.

As the other flicks with the same topic, “February the 13th” focuses on the story of a group of young boys and girls who travel to Camp Lake Crystal for some good-ol’ teenage fun. One by one, they come face to face with the terrible Jason Voorhees who is, as customary, still unstoppable, still a sight to behold in sheer dread.

“They are about to find much more than they bargained for. Little do they know, they've entered the domain of one of the most terrifying specters in American film history-the infamous killer who haunts Crystal Lake, armed with a razor-sharp machete... Jason Voorhees.” the synopsis of the movie goes. We’ll let the recently released stills do the rest of the talking.
