Forget about touchscreen and extremely evolved performances coming from mobile phones. The new trend might just be set by cheap, cost reducing devices that will make communication affordable. This is where the Skypephone steps in.

Skype and 3 recently announced the release of their Skypephone and set a close date for it to be available in stores. Things move fast and a video of it has just appeared over the internet. Those who thought of making a pre-order for the device now have the chance of seeing just how it looks like and what it has to offer. There are more than seven minutes of buttoning, placing calls and managing contacts, all in the premiere.

The Skypephone looks simple enough, just like a low-end device that is capable of providing only the basic solution to the user's communication needs. No surprise here, as this is exactly what the handset has to offer. Its classic design stands out only through the all-white color that looks fresh and modern. Moreover, there is also the Skype logo on the main navigation button, as to make it clear that this is not a regular phone.

The navigation menu is also quite plain and intuitive in use. The Skypephone also adds a 2 megapixel camera, for taking average quality captures. At the dimensions of 100 x 44 x 13.6 mm, it looks comfortable enough and sticks to the basic appearance of regular handsets. Skype worked with 3 and Qualcomm in order to make this possible and pack all the technology that regular mobile phones are capable of providing.

The Skypephone will be available starting with November 2nd in 3's stores from UK, Australia, Italy, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Hong Kong and Macau, but people can pre-order it now as well. Its price will be set at 50 pounds (USD100), an extremely low one, especially when considering the advantages that such a device has to bring.
