Agile Web Solutions has just issued a new update for the young 1Password 3. Out of beta just last week, the password manager and form filler for Mac OS X is now getting more maintenance from its makers, including support for the new Camino 2 release and the addition of special checks, to detect and block frequent automatic data file reloads that could happen when data folder is constantly changing.

The 1Password menu item is now displayed in Camino 2 webpage shortcut menu, according to Agile Web Solutions. Also new is that secure notes will now be created if you drag-n-drop .txt, .rtf, or .rtfd files into 1Password. According to the developer, this comes in handy when importing data from various sources.

As noted above, the developers added special checks to detect and block frequent automatic data file reloads that could happen when data folder is constantly changing. The change has been done to prevent system slowdown/freezing when fseventsd incorrectly reports constant data folder changes, according to the release notes. Other important changes include:

- Made changes to possibly fix reported problem of password text overflowing view bounds for very long passwords. - Improved initial selection of source list item 'Logins' when opening an existing keychain when no preferences are set. - Display of expiration date fields now conforms to user's locale settings. - Fixed problem displaying search results. When all table columns are removed, the default column settings are substituted.

1Password 3 requires the Agile Keychain data format, according to the Agile Web Solutions. Users are required to make sure they upgrade their 1Password data to the new format before installing 1Password 3. Working seamlessly in modern web browsers like Apple’s Safari, as well as Firefox, Camino, and Flock, 1Password stores all of one's information into the built-in Keychain. There is also a mobile version of the application. The iPhone client, appropriately named 1Password Touch, securely stores a website’s names and passwords. 1Password 3.0.1 is recommended for all users and is free for all 1Password 3 buyers.
