Fresh gaming meat comes to Windows Vista and to DirectX 10 via Games for Windows. Microsoft has announced the availability of two new titles, designed for its Windows client. "Crysis" and "Kane & Lynch: Dead Men" have both received the Games for Windows brand, tying the two games from Partners and Eidos, with the Windows operating system. In this manner, Microsoft is continually growing the social engineering network it has managed to build around the Xbox LIVE games and entertainment network. But most importantly, the Redmond company is focusing on Windows, which according to estimates is the world's leading gaming platform with in excess of 200 million gamers.

"I just wanted to let you guys know about two more Games for Windows titles hitting store shelves. It's pretty exciting to see some of these things hitting stores finally. After drooling over "Crysis" for so long, and playing the heck out of the graphically lucious demo, I'm really looking forward to getting into that nano suit and taking the game through its paces. Also, "Kane & Lynch: Dead Men" [is] out, and supports Games for Windows - LIVE," revealed Michael Wolf, PR Manager, Games for Windows.

"Remember, games under the Games for Windows brand offer easy installation, widescreen capability, native 64-bit support, and take advantage of Windows Vista's gaming features and technology (such as DirectX 10)," stated Microsoft's Brandon LeBlanc. Microsoft has been under a heavy barrage of criticism from both the gaming community and the industry for the decision of making DirectX 10 exclusively available on Windows Vista.

The company is leveraging the evolved graphics technology in order to push its latest operating system. And according to Microsoft's last count, the gamers that switched to Vista just to enjoy the enhanced experience was over 10 million. Since Vista was released to manufacturing back in November 2006, more than 88 million copies of the platform shipped to channel partners worldwide.
