Here we go again, with a new revision of the Catalyst display drivers for your Radeon graphics cards. The 12.4 Catalyst is available for desktop configurations and notebook cards as well, and you can choose your suitable download link at the end of this post.

This new Catalyst revision brings the long-awaited Windows XP support for the new Radeon HD 7900, HD 7800 and HD 7700 series cards. So as of now, those guys still running XP and thinking about buying one of these new graphics cards will be able to enjoy the modern technology.

Super Sampling Anti-Aliasing (SSAA) and Morphological Anti-Aliasing (MLAA) features have received many improvements, but SSAA will not work with DirectX 10 and 11 applications without native anti-aliasing in-game support, therefore attempting to force it through the Catalyst Control Center will fail.

On the other hand, the MLAA now works up to 80% faster, while the texture filtering underwent improvements for DirectX 9, 10 ad 11, and better quality textures are now available with no negative impact on performance.

For a list of games receiving fixes with the Catalyst 12.4, please read the detailed descriptions in the download pages for your specific driver. No Windows 8 support has been announced with 12.4, but the future versions are most likely to include this OS.
