An Algerian hacker that uses the online monikers HBvirus1 and MJRM511 has breached and defaced the official site of France’s 1st Airborne "Hunter" Regiment (rcp1.terre.defense.gouv.fr), hosted on the Army subdomain of the country’s Ministry of Defense website.

The hacker – whose name is inspired by Houari-Boumedienne, the second president of Algeria – tells us that the site has been defaced in “revenge.”

The hack is part of OpMayDay, a global “resistance” campaign initiated by Anonymous hackers on May 1.

“Anonymous will use all the tools at our disposal to facilitate and encourage this Global Day of Awakening,” the hackers said when they announced the operation.

HBvirus1 says that he’ll continue to target government organizations. Particularly, his next targets will be the websites of Argentinian government departments.

Currently, the site is inaccessible to visitors. It displays an “under maintenance” alert. However, a mirror of the defacement is available on zone-h.org.
