Actress admits she had lips done, says not a day goes by without regretting it

Once considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, French actress Emmanuelle Beart has finally come clean about her pouty lips, saying she had them done when she was very young.

In saying these things, Beart isn't just confirming reports that have been making the rounds for years: she's also using her own personal, painful experience with plastic surgery to warn anyone who might think it's no big deal.

Surgery is something that affects you for the rest of your life, the actress says in a new interview with Le Monde, as cited by the Daily Mail.

At the time she decided to go under the knife, she didn't know that, she hadn't thought about it like this.

“I had my mouth done when I was 27. It was a botched job. Obviously, if I had liked my mouth I wouldn’t have had it re-done,” the 47-year-old star admits.

“If a man or woman has something redone it is because he or she can no longer live with that part of their body, it is no longer bearable. Either they get help and find the strength to fight [the need to have plastic surgery] or they proceed with the act,” Emmanuelle goes on to say.

Her lips are beyond repair now, but at least she can use her own example to let others know that surgery – of any kind – should never be a decision taken lightly.

“It is a grave act in which you don’t necessarily foresee all the consequences. Just the idea of an injection these days devastates me. So I don’t know how I will get through these stages [of middle and old age),” she says.

However, the star doesn't blame those women who turn to plastic surgery to fight the clock, especially those working in showbiz like herself.

Of all the places to grow old, this is the more difficult, Beart explains in the same interview. If you're a woman and you're aging, you're not expected to show it, she says.
