Rumors of the two “Slumdog Millionaire” stars, Freida Pinto and Dev Patel, being more than just good friends when the cameras are not rolling first started to circulate shortly after shooting for the film was done. Now, months later, his mother confirms for The Daily Mirror that they are an item, following the publication of a series of photos that showed them kissing.

Mrs. Patel has confirmed for the aforementioned media outlet that, while there is a certain age difference between them (Dev being younger than the Indian beauty), things are finally looking up for the young actor. As a matter of fact, things are so good and he is so smitten with Freida that he even flew to Jerusalem, where she’s shooting on location, for a quick date, which is when they were also photographed kissing.

“Life can’t get better for him. First it was the film and now everything else seems to have slotted into place. Life can’t get any better for him. Freida is really beautiful and I am really happy for them. Yes, we knew he was flying to Israel to see her.” Mrs. Patel tells the publication. The two stars reportedly first took a liking to each other while they were still shooting for the multi-Oscar winning film “Slumdog Millionaire,” but could only come out of hiding after Pinto broke up with her boyfriend, public relations executive Rohan Antao, earlier this year.

Nevertheless, as noted above, speculation about an off-screen affair started to circulate long before that, after one of their co-stars told the media that they shared a very special kind of chemistry while the cameras were rolling – “magical chemistry.” With Mrs. Patel’s interview, earlier reports are confirmed – and she couldn’t be any happier about the way things turned out for her 18-year-old son. “He’s just an ordinary boy. We’re very proud of him.” she says for the same publication.

As Pinto’s personal life is kicking into high gear, so is her career, with more and more movie studios and companies seeking her out for various contracts. Among them is also EON Productions, which handles the Bond franchise and the upcoming installment from it, speculation has it. Although Freida already auditioned once for a part as a Bond girl in “Quantum of Solace,” she was turned down on account of her age; but now that she has grown older and has accumulated more experience (not to mention the media exposure she’s getting), she is said to be ideal for the part of femme fatale for the 007 series.
