Freephoo has launched its free calling application for all iDevices in Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Lebanon, Yemen, Qatar, and Algeria.
Available as a free download for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, the app was initially released earlier this month in Kuwait and gained traction rapidly.
The app allows users to make free calls with “superior audio quality” to other freephoo subscribers, much like Skype. Users can also place international calls to both fixed and mobile phones for a fee.
Commenting on their recent launch in additional territories, Pandelis Eliopoulos, Co-founder at freephoo, said:
"We are pleased to launch our application in so many new countries and to reach out to even more users. Launching in new markets and supporting more devices has been a top priority for us, since our iPad application rose to the top of several App Store lists when launched earlier this year."
Freephoo’s progress since its initial release is nothing short of spectacular, having reached No 1 on the Top Free Apps list, and No 1 on the Top Social App list.
The app was also the No 1 Top Grossing app for a while, and it was listed as "New and Noteworthy" and "What's Hot", according to the developers.
“Freephoo is one of the first calling applications that enable users to purchase premium minutes through Apple's App Store and Android Market's own payment systems (In-App Purchase & In-App Products),” says NASP New Age Service Provider AB. “It enables users to make low-cost calls to billions of mobile and fixed phones in a wide range of countries.”
"We are pleased to see that so many users convert to our premium service. This gives us great confidence to continue the launch in new markets," Eliopoulos added.
According to the developers, the countries Freephoo is currently available in are: Algeria, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Brunei, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, FYR Macedonia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
The developers recommend to use iPhone 4 for best audio quality experience and you should also consider a fixed data plan when you use freephoo over a 3G network, since operators tend to charge additional cost for the data coming in and going out of your phone.
