Guitar Hero faceplate to compensate for the mono sound issue

It was a complete madness back in November 2007 when people found out that their Guitar Hero III copies for Wii were shipped with some things left out - a few channels of sound, that is. Activision quickly apologized and promised that it's "working on the situation" and so it did - free replacement discs were sent to the owners who were angry to have a mono game, even though everything should have been different.

However, it seems that the folks over at Activision really know that they totally blew it this time and they are trying to compensate. According to infendo.com, one of their readers was surprised to find on his doorstep today a free, good looking Guitar Hero faceplate. That is indeed a good thing and a good marketing strategy from Activision, but I really don't like a thing.

Everybody is really excited now and saying things like "good job, Activision" and so on when things are totally different. They didn't do a good job in the first place, when they totally lied (or whatever they did) and sent their customers a different product than the one they were advertising. Guitar Hero III for the Nintendo Wii HAD mono sound! This is the most important fact we shouldn't forget: for whatever reasons, Activision shipped a totally different product. They were wrong. You can't say "good job, Activision!" for that.

The most you can say is "apologies accepted" or stuff like that - it is indeed a very nice gift from the company and it really shows that they do care about their customers and they are also trying to do all that's needed to right the wrongs. This doesn't mean that they weren't, actually, wrong in the first place! Let's try not to forget that, while we appreciate Activision for the decision to offer a free compensatory gift for all the trouble they have caused.
