FreeType, a freely available software library to render fonts that are written in C, designed to be small, efficient, highly customizable, and portable while capable of producing high-quality output (glyph images) of most vector and bitmap font formats, is now at version 2.5.0.1.

Highlights of FreeType 2.5.0.1:

• The cache manager function `FTC_Manager_Reset' now actually flushes the cache; • Support for color embedded bitmaps has been added by Google; • The old FreeType CFF engine is now disabled by default; • All the code related to macro FT_CONFIG_OPTION_OLD_INTERNALS has been removed; • The property API (`FT_Property_Get' and `FT_Property_Set') has been declared stable; • The `ttdebug' program has been further improved; • TrueType subpixel hinting fixes have been implemented.
