FreeNAS, a free implementation of a minimal FreeBSD distribution, has just reached version 8.2.0 Beta 2.
FreeNAS 8.2.0 Beta 2 has introduced a large number of functional changes in comparison with the 8.0.x branch.
Highlights of FreeNAS 8.2.0 Beta 2:
· Plugin jail generation is now integrated into the build system; · Adding users now allows for placing users into additional groups, as well as greater clarity about the primary group the user will be in; · The GUI was updated to reflect the fact that the dynamic DNS update period is in seconds, not milliseconds; · The ability to enable or disable the autotuner to system -> settings -> advanced was added; · ZFS scrubs can be scheduled via the GUI; · The iSCSI initiator kernel module to the system was added.
