FreeBSD, an operating system for x86, ARM, IA-64, PowerPC, PC-98 and UltraSPARC architectures, is now at version 8.3.

FreeBSD 8.3 Final is the fourth release in this stable branch, improving functionality over the 8.2 version and bringing some new features as well.

Highlights of FreeBSD 8.3:

· usb(4) support the USB packet filter has been introduced; · TCP/IP stack now supports the mod_cc(9) pluggable congestion control framework; · graid(8) GEOM class added to support various BIOS-based software RAID controllers (replacement for ataraid(4)); · ZFS subsystem was updated to SPA version 28; · GNOME was updated to 2.32.1 and KDE was updated to 4.7.4; · The FreeBSD dtrace(1) framework now supports systrace for system calls of linux32 and freebsd32 on FreeBSD/amd64; · The FreeBSD Fast File System now supports the TRIM command when freeing data blocks.
