FreeNAS, a free implementation of a minimal FreeBSD distribution, has just reached version 8.0.3, bringing some serious updates.

FreeNAS 8.0.3 is a major change and benefits from tons of updates. A complete list can found in the official announcement.

Highlights of FreeNAS 8.0.3:

· Smaller block and frag sizes for /etc and /var are used; · Tweaks to remove non-essential features and packages from the image have been implemented; · kernel tunable / sysctl support has been added; · Samba was updated to version 3.6.1; · Netatalk was updated to version 2.2.1; · NTFS volume import has been fixed; · Change "SSH key" in GUI to "SSH Public Key".
