FreeBSD 10.0 RC4, an operating system for x86, ARM, IA-64, PowerPC, PC-98, and UltraSPARC architectures, is now available for download and testing.

According to the announcement, this is likely the last Release Candidate to be made available for download before the final version is released.

The developers advise users that, on systems running FreeBSD 10.0 BETA1 (and only systems running 10.0 BETA1), they have to run the following command before using freebsd-update:

sed -i '' -e 's/%@/%~@/' /usr/sbin/freebsd-update

This version only features a couple of changes: the default restrictions for ntpd(8) server have been tightened and a kernel crash discovered with recent Java port update has been fixed.

The official changelog comes with a complete list of instructions. Download FreeBSD 10.0 RC4 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
