FreeBSD 10.0 RC1, an operating system for x86, ARM, IA-64, PowerPC, PC-98, and UltraSPARC architectures, is now available for download and testing.

The developers have advised users that, on systems running FreeBSD 10.0 BETA1 (and only systems running 10.0-BETA1), they have to run the following command before using freebsd-update:

sed -i '' -e 's/%@/%~@/' /usr/sbin/freebsd-update

Highlights of FreeBSD 10.0 RC1:

• A regression in bsdinstall(8) that prevents ZFS on GELI installation from working correctly has been fixed; • The Hyper-V kernel modules are now built by default for i386; • The oce(4) driver has been added to support 40Gbps devices; • The robustness of the Xen balloon driver has been improved; • Support has been added for BCM57764, BCM57767, BCM57782, BCM57786 and BCM57787.
