A new development version of FreeBSD 10.0 has been released

FreeBSD 10.0 Alpha 5, an operating system for x86, ARM, IA-64, PowerPC, PC-98, and UltraSPARC architectures, has been released and it's now available for download and testing.

This is the fifth release for the new branch of FreeBSD and the developers continue to add a constant stream of fixes and improvements. There is no mention if this is the last in the series or if there are going to be more of them.

According to the developers, BIND has been removed from the base system and replacements may be found within the Ports Collection, a fix has been introduced with the latest infiniband update, the GNU ar(1) and ranlib(1) have been removed from the base system, and much more.

Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
