14 DAY TRIAL // Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation Plus subscription that's required to experience multiplayer in PlayStation 4 games won't be needed by free-to-play titles like DC Universe Online, PlanetSide 2, Warframe, or Blacklight: Retribution.
The PS4 saw quite a few new details revealed by Sony at its E3 2013 press conference, including the fact that, if PS4 owners want to access the multiplayer mode of their games, they'll need to have an active PlayStation Plus subscription.
This requirement, however, won't be applied to free-to-play games, as Sony's Shuhei Yoshida has revealed, via Polygon, that players won't need to Plus to access certain online titles.
According to Yoshida, PS4 owners will be able to play online games like PlanetSide 2, DC Universe Online, Warframe, or Blacklight: Retribution without PS Plus.
Developers of other free-to-play titles that will hit the PS4 can make their own decisions about requiring PS Plus or not.
