Cate Blanchett is not actually dearly appreciated for her fashion tendencies, being in fact, underrated. We can say that she takes risks. But when she does that, not many take notice. She is known though to dazzle by presenting an evolving style on the red carpet and wearing international labels.
I shall only give three examples to argument my previous affirmation. The first is her apparition at the 71st Annual Academy Awards where she sported a bared back in an international design by John Galliano that highlighted the look of both distinctive embroidery and artistic heading. At the 72nd Annual Academy Awards, she wore a sleek black gown by Frenchman Jean-Paul Gaultier that had the most clever shoulder construction to provide a sexy reveal. Sleeky! She added to the outfit some Indian-inspired chains created by Cynthia Bach and accentuated this way the ethnic jewelry trend of the new millennium. The 77th edition of the same awards gala saw Cate in a one-shoulder pale yellow silk taffeta gown with train and satin burgundy bow sash by Valentino Couture. Her peaches and cream makeup by Jeanine Lobell. And the finishing touch - a brooch at the shoulder by Lorraine Schwartz. That was just to check out her "background" a bit.
Moving on…Last night at the Notes on a Scandal premiere in NYC she surprised everyone with her look. Well, there were two outfits that she wore this Tuesday but I will only comment on one of them as I wasn't able to see both of them entirely.

The outfit I was talking about is some kind of tight, grey suit and an Annie-Lennox type hair. A kinda metallic grey as I see it (remember that metallics are the bomb this season), high-waisted tight pants and (just) a jacket on the top side. Lovely earrings and cool brooch (at least it seems to be a brooch). Notice the make-up: sheer lip gloss but extremely accentuated eyes in a combination of golden and dark grey eye shadow, black eye-liner and black mascara. Not that bad some would say (and have said).I don't know, but her make-up says "Androginy" to me. Remember the Garbage video and the singer? That's what I'm talking about.
All in all, I think that she certainly cannot be included in the fashion police category today as the androgyny rocks on her. Way to go, Cate! I have prepared some photos for you to see so check them out.
