Windows Vista is the latest version of the operating system developed by Microsoft that is regarded as the most secure edition of the Windows series. One of the interesting utilities included in the operating system is the Vista Sidebar that helps you increase the functionality of the desktop by adding gadgets, tiny tools that usually provide only one function. Because Yahoo is a company that tries to offer instant access to its search technologies from every application, it developed a special gadget designed for the Windows Vista Sidebar.

"We designed the Yahoo! Search gadget to feel at home in Vista's new visually rich environment with animations and four shiny colors to choose from. And whether docked in your Sidebar or floating on your desktop, the Yahoo! Search gadget puts Yahoo! Web Search, Answers, Local, Video, and more at your fingertips. Of course, there are a number of other ways to integrate Yahoo! Search into your Vista experience, including search plug-ins for IE7 and Firefox as well as the Yahoo! Toolbar also for IE7 and Firefox," Jonathan Strauss, Yahoo! Desktop Products, sustained in a blog post.

As far I can see, the utility is quite attractive because I'm not able to test it as long the company provides access to the download link only for the Vista users. If you installed Vista and you want to use this tiny Sidebar gadget, you should visit this page and download the utility.

As you might know, Yahoo aims to improve the functionality of certain programs by Vista compatible editions, designed especially for the users of the new operating system. Some time ago, the giant portal said it is planning a Vista compatible Yahoo Messenger that will take the chatting experience to another level using an attractive interface bundled with new features.
