Social game developers that intend to leverage Microsoft’s Cloud for their offerings might want to know what it´s like to build gaming experiences designed to run on top of Windows Azure. This is why a member of the Windows Azure team recommended a free event dubbed ‘Windows Azure and Cloud for Social Game Developers’ available here.

While the title is pretty much self-explanatory, developers should know that they will be able to get insight into the work done by Sneaky Games.

Sneaky Games is one of the first game developers to turn to Windows Azure in order to deploy and run a massive web based game.

“In this free online session, Sneaky Games CEO David Godwin and Lead Server Engineer Mark Bourland will talk about how they have been able to build a successful social games business leveraging the latest technologies, including cloud computing and Windows Azure.

“At the end of the session, the Sneaky Games team will also answer any questions about their experience with Windows Azure and building Flash-based social games backed with Microsoft technology.

“Earlier this year, Sneaky Games released their top-rated game, Fantasy Kingdoms, on Facebook and Hi5 using Windows Azure for hosting and game services,” the Windows Azure team representative revealed.

‘Windows Azure and Cloud for Social Game Developers’ is scheduled to take place on January 12, 2011, 10:00 AM, USA Pacific.

As the Windows Azure team member stated, registering and attending the online event is completely free of charge.

However, developers will need the latest version of Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 in order to attend the event.

“Social Games have taken the online world by storm. Because they engage such a large user base, bigger than most websites, social games require a very solid and scalable architecture.

“Sneaky Games chose Microsoft Azure to support its game, Fantasy Kingdoms. In this session learn more about why Sneaky Games chose Windows Azure, what the benefits and drawbacks were from that decision, and gain technical know how to build a game onto Windows Azure,” reads the synopsis of the online event.
