The Humble Store is offering a pretty big deal right now for a limited time, as anyone can get a free copy of Tropico 3 that can be redeemed on Steam.

The Humble Store appeared as a new way for developers to sell their games to consumers without participating in a traditional "humble bundle" deal, and in the last year or so has become quite popular, running great deals. These have allowed the online store to easily compete with other such services, from Valve's huge Steam platform to GOG or GreenManGaming.

Now, in order to further draw in more people, the Humble Store has introduced a brand new deal that's so good it can't be refused.

Tropico 3 is free for a limited time

For a limited time of about eight more hours, Tropico 3 can be acquired for free via the Humble Store. All users have to do is type in the email address at which they want the code to be sent, optionally ask to receive more Humble Bundle news, and then fill in a captcha, in order to prevent bots from taking advantage of the deal.

In case you want the free Tropico 3 copy to be sent to a friend, you can type in their email address directly, or your own and check the "gift copy" mark when confirming the process.

You'll receive a link to the Humble Bundle website, where you need to authorize the service to redeem codes for your Steam library. In case you forgot, this method is used so that promotional codes can't be sold to other players by nefarious individuals. This was a major problem in the early days of the Humble Bundle service, but the solution is pretty simple and safe.

The codes will see the Tropico 3 Steam Special Edition be added into the library of each user. This includes, besides the regular version, two additional maps, as well as two new costumes and accessories for the protagonist.

Tropico 3 marked a return to the roots of the series

The Tropico franchise has been around for quite some time, but only with Tropico 3 did it return to its original roots and deliver a tongue-in-cheek dictatorship simulator with a deep and complex economical gameplay.

Players need to develop their own tropical island during the Cold War by using all sorts of different methods, from charm to intimidation, oppression, and much more. There are 15 missions in total, as well as a random map generator and players are scored on an online leaderboard.
