Nokia N800 Internet Tablet will bring what the Web and mobile phones have best to offer. Skype will be available from now on wherever there is a WiFi connection for placing VoIP calls.

Skype has proved to be a great success for PC users everywhere. Nokia now enables people to take this experience one step further and take the experience of this application on mobile grounds. Almost 200 million people use it on their PCs and that number has high chances of booming if the program is going to be used at a large scale on handsets too.

"Consumers can now start enjoying the benefits of Skype on the Nokia N800 and experience a free and easy way to stay in touch with friends, family and business colleagues around the world", said Ari Virtanen, Vice President, Convergence Products, Nokia. Moreover, "The Nokia N800 gives people easy access to the Internet and it's a natural step that they will want to make Skype calls away from their desktop".

"With the growth of mobile devices and WiFi, consumers expect to be connected wherever they are, at the office, at home or on the move. Making Skype available on such an innovative, portable device, lets us bring internet conversations to the mobile masses", commented Eric Lagier, Skype's head of business development for Mobile. Nokia manages to meet these expectations with the help of their N800 phone model.

Skype can be downloaded on all Nokia N800 Internet Tablets. From this point on, people can enjoy the unlimited calls from any place with a WiFi hotspot. With this application, they can place free voice and video calls as well as send instant messages over the Internet to other users of the program.

Skype will be available for Nokia N800 starting with the second quarter of this year. An additional feature upgrade will also include Adobe Flash 9 browser plug-in for best web compatibility.
