One-year free license for RVS Home Lux edition

Returnil has joined the holiday spirit and offers an early gift to all its users: a free one-year license for its Home Lux edition of the product. The announcement has been delivered via its Facebook wall, with no other information on the expiration date of the offer.

The one-year valid license number to be used for activating the Home Lux 2010 edition of the application is posted on its wall together with “Happy Holidays!” wishes for its fans. The license number is S000030001A00000610KT2QMM and works for anyone. Once typed in the activation screen of the software, the code will immediately unlock the $39.95 Home Lux copy of Returnil Virtual System 2010.

Getting a 40 buck product for free is always appealing, but in our case, not everything is bright and shiny, because the Status section of the interface shows that this promotional copy of the product has an expiration date set a couple of months too soon, on October 5, 2010.

The purpose of this software is to offer you a safe environment for any sort of testing, without the fear that your system will become incapacitated, should something go wrong. In brief, Returnil virtualizes the system drive completely, letting you mess with it any way you want to, and when all the meddling is over, it offers you the possibility to return to the real system configuration (thus eliminating any modifications made) by simply restarting the machine. One of the best parts in Returnil is that it allows you to apply any of the changes made in the virtual copy of the system drive to the real system, if everything worked out okay.

But Returnil will offer more than just the possibility to run everything in a virtual environment to safeguard the real system. The application sports a file manager that allows you to save items to the real hard disk while in virtual mode, or create a virtual disk anywhere on your computer to securely save files.

Even if the promotion does not cover a full 12-month period for using the product, getting it even for a quick spin would be a good idea. Returnil did a pretty good job during our testing and we expect nothing but improvement with each new release.
