Before you proceed to downloading the software to give it a quick glance and maybe even use it for back up (after all, that's its main purpose), note that this is the first beta version of Rescue Kit for Mac OS X, so it is strongly recommended you only perform "lite" back-ups, as in, don't perform backup/restore operations with your vital data.

The software's File Transfer Wizard helps you get complete access to any file system even if unmounted or corrupted. Also, you can easily backup and restore from any accessible network or backup to any media, including USB, Firewire devices or network shares. All file systems are supported. Users can get access to the most commonly used file systems (FAT 16, FAT 32, NTFS, HPFS, EXT2FS, EXT3FS, Reiser, including Apple HFS(+)).
