How come Ubisoft is approaching the PS3 when everyone else is running away from it?

Just as I've finished writing about the PS3 losing all of its multiplatform games, this came in: Haze, the new first-person shooter from Free Radical ( also responsible for Time Splitters), will be a Playstation 3 exclusive, but only under the form of a "limited" exclusive. Funny isn't it? Some try as hard as they can to run away from the PS3 while others embrace it. Will it pay off for those who still have faith in it?

Just this morning, Ubisoft made the big announcement that the PS3 is now the "lead platform" for Free Radical's forthcoming first-person shooter, Haze, as GameSpot reports, not saying that it is becoming a PS3 exclusive though. However, the game was originally set for a Xbox 360, PC and PS3 release sometime this spring, but the publisher has confirmed that PS3 owners will be the only ones seeing it, in fall.

How is it possible for a game slated for a spring release this year on three different platforms, be delayed only to launch on just one of those three previously announced? Maybe you could answer this one in the comments column, but let's continue with our story for now.

So now Haze will debut solely on the PS3 in autumn. The same site reports that the fact sheet provided by Ubisoft doesn't even the PC or Xbox 360 versions of the game anymore, further confirming that the game is a PS3 exclusive, that will probably stay a PS3 exclusive (at least with this installment if the developer has plans for a sequel or two).

However, something isn't quite right with the Haze's official UK and American sites. While the game's UK site bears the PS3 logo, the American Haze site still displays the Xbox 360 and PC-DVD logos at the bottom. What's going on here?

Ubisoft's representatives contacted GameSpot and told them in a somewhat ambiguous manner that "Haze is leading on PS3, but no exclusivity for any platform has been officially announced." So again, gamers are in the blur because the developer can't say who's getting the game and who isn't. But the man's statement does leave a door open for Xbox 360 and PC in 2008 does it not.

The PS3 couldn't have been that lucky as to get an exclusive. Remember, publishers are really thinking of pulling all their multiplatform titles from it. Click HERE to see the game's official Ubidays trailer. Enjoy!
