Scammers on Facebook have started using the upcoming next-generation consoles, like the PlayStation 4 or Xbox 720, to trick people into completing surveys, liking shady pages, and possibly even sharing private information, in order to win supposed "free" consoles.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 are eagerly awaited by millions of gamers from all around the world, so different shady individuals have begun using this anticipation to their own benefit in order to trick gullible people.

More specifically, two scams have popped up on Facebook, via Hoax-Slayer.

The first consists of a supposed announcement from Sony, in which it wants people to sign up for a PlayStation 4 test phase. When the trial ends, participants will get to keep the next-gen console, so all they have to do is like and share the announcement.

The second consists of an Xbox 720 giveaway that also requires people to like and share an associated Facebook page.

Needless to say, both are scams and there aren't any actual prizes.

Be careful as plenty of hoaxes can be found on the web, promising all sorts of impressive things, like entry into the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta.
