After donating over 60,000 prepaid phone cards - valued at nearly half a million dollars - to U.S. Military members overseas and their families at home throughout this year, AT&T plans to keep on distributing thousands more free prepaid phone cards in 2007.

More than $6 million worth of prepaid cards have been donated to military members stationed overseas during the holidays, in the previous years, enabling them to keep in touch with their loved ones even though they are far away.

"We know that many military members will be away from their loved ones through the new year, a time typically focused on families celebrating together," said Kevin Leonard, vice president, AT&T National Mass Markets. "At AT&T, we want to help connect these families -- and honor the many men and women who sacrifice so much. We're building on more than 85 years of support for U.S. Military families, and we're glad to continue that tradition."

The Navy Exchange Service Command and AT&T also expect to distribute 17,000 free prepaid phone cards each with a value of $10 for every Sailor, Marine or Coast Guard member who will be underway aboard a U.S Navy Ship during the holiday season.

"This program has been so successful in the past that we decided to do it again this year," said Jennie Virden, NEXCOM personal telecommunication specialist. "Our military members sacrifice so much for our country, including being away from loved ones over the holidays. We are proud to be able to provide them a way to call home for free."
