There are times when Electronic Arts seems to be a very strange company. Thus, the publisher has announced that it plans to release downloadable content for the Galactic Adventures expansion on the exact day it is launched.

The new content for Spore is set to arrive on June 23 and, at the same time, Electronic Arts will release new adventures penned by the writers of Robot Chicken, a TV show with a cult status and Emmy credibility.

The new campaign is said to have been conceptualized by Seth Green and Matt Senreich, who are the two creators of Robot Chicken, and then put together by a team consisting of Matt Beans, Doug Goldstein, Mike Fasolo, Breckin Meyer, Dan Milano, Tom Root, Kevin Shinick, Hugh Sterbakov and Zeb Wells.

Seth Green said that “We’re big fans of Spore, so teaming up on Spore Galactic Adventures was a natural fit and so much fun for all the guys at Robot Chicken.”

Kip Katsarelis, who is the lead producer of Spore Galactic Adventures, stated that “Gamers and Adult Swim fans alike are going to absolutely love the hilarity found in the Robot Chicken missions created for Spore Galactic Adventures. Our development team had a blast working with the guys and couldn’t stop laughing the entire time we were together. Their Adventures truly reflect the extent of their wild imaginations as well as how the in-game Adventure Creator tool can create almost any type of story imaginable. Players can only guess the absurdity and fun that will ensue.”

Galactic Adventures is set to add a lot of fresh stuff to Spore. Players who reach the final part of the videogame will be able to beam down to the surface of planets to solve conflicts, can play new story arcs created by the developers at Maxis while also putting together their own adventures that can be played by other gamers afterwards. The Robot Chicken content should offer some of the more weird adventures, with banana wars, robots and angry librarians all making appearances.
