14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung Galaxy S5 mini is definitely not a new phone and not a very popular one either. The smartphone was launched last year in July in several countries, and to this date Samsung is still introducing the phone in various regions.
Australian carrier Telstra has agreed to sell Samsung's Galaxy S5 mini starting February 24, but in order to attract more customers, it kicked off a promotional offer for the smartphone.
Anyone who pre-orders the Galaxy S5 mini on a plan online before February 24 will also receive a free Monster headphones valued at $229 AUD (€157).
Samsung Galaxy S5 mini can be had for $0 down on Telstra's $65 plan, which will net you $550 talk time and MMS, unlimited text messages and 500MB of data. Larger plans are available with the purchase of Galaxy S5 mini as well. Any of the plans online are eligible with the pre-order offer.
The mini version of Galaxy S5 has downgraded features
As a mini version of Samsung's flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5 mini provides mid-range specs, such as 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 3 Quad 3470 processor, Mali-400MP4 graphics processing unit and 1.5GB of RAM.
Unlike the original Galaxy S5, the mini version sports a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that support for HD (720p) resolution. It's IP67 certified, which means Galaxy S5 mini is water and dust resistant.
Samsung Galaxy S5 mini comes with 16GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB). The 8-megapixel rear-facing camera on the back features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, whereas in the front there's a secondary 2.1-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
