The software development kit for Microsoft Surface 2.0 became available for download earlier this week, but the Redmond company is also offering additional resources to developers. Softpedia users have already been able to read about the release of Microsoft Surface 2.0 SDK and Runtime and the new Microsoft Surface 2.0 Migration Power Toy.

But there are additional downloads from Microsoft designed to streamline the work of devs building projects on top of Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface and Windows 7 touch capable computers.

Microsoft Surface 2 Development Whitepaper, Microsoft Surface 2 Design and Interaction Guide and Microsoft Surface 2 Hands-on Labs are all offered free of charge through the company’s Download Center.

The Microsoft Surface 2 Development Whitepaper “provides an overview of the Microsoft Surface application development process. It provides detailed information about the Surface platform and unique capabilities of the hardware. Topics include the Surface 2.0 SDK, vision based touch input, and system architecture. This development whitepaper covers the basic end-to-end process for creating great Surface applications,” the software giant said.

The Microsoft Surface 2 Design and Interaction Guide “helps designers and developers create Surface applications for Microsoft Surface and Windows 7 touch PCs. Developing compelling Surface experiences requires a different approach to interface design. This document presents design principles and guidelines to address key aspects of application interface design including: interaction, visual, sound, text, and more,” the company added.

In addition, devs can also download no less than 11 hands on labs that offer extra content on top of what’s already available on the Microsoft Surface 2.0 Online Training Course.

“Each lab contains a walkthrough and starter projects to provide guided step-by-step practical experience for developing Surface applications. Topics include using ScatterView, vision based object recognition, Microsoft Surface Input Simulator, drag and drop APIs, Library Container, 360 degree interfaces, and more,” Microsoft said.
