The Microsoft PC Advisor is a utility designed to allow end users to optimize their Windows-based PCs in security, networking and performance, peripherals and usage scenarios. Microsoft has indicated that the tool will closely monitor the Windows-computers it is deployed on, and will intervene in order to enhance the user experience. In this regard, PC Advisor will offer the guidance necessary for end users to resolve any issues that prevent Windows to run at full throttle, in this manner contributing to diminishing UX. PC Advisor is in preview stage as of yet, and Microsoft is informing testers that, over the course of six months, they will be tapped for their feedback.

“Microsoft PC Advisor is a self-help tool that notifies you about problems in your PC and helps you fix them. Microsoft PC Advisor scans your PC continuously, notifies you about important issues, and, when possible, suggests an easy fix solution. Additionally, it provides a checkup function, so that you can manually check your PC. This manual checkup displays information about additional, non-critical issues, such as suggestions and tips for improving the way you use your PC. The checkup advises you about security, performance, networking, printing, and more,” Microsoft promised in the product's description.

Via the Interface, PC Advisor offers access to five options: PC Checkup, Toolbox, Offers, Tutorials and Online help. The best aspect of PC Advisor is that the tool is permanently connected to the Internet, and is set up to continually update and offer only the latest versions of tools, tutorials, and guidance to end users. At the same time, PC Advisor connects to Microsoft servers, and phones home details related to the Windows PCs it monitors.

Microsoft has revealed the “main features and benefits [of PC Advisor],” which are as follows:

- Optimized: Checks your PC and maintains it for optimal system performance. - Secure: Helps you keep your system secure, by continuously monitoring your PC's security settings and software, and by offering relevant security updates. - Up-to-date: Helps you keep your PC up-to-date with the latest relevant updates. - Real-time monitoring: Monitors changes that occur on your PC and require your attention, and when it detects such a change, displays a relevant notification with solution options.”
