After plenty of leaks, BioWare has officially confirmed that the Mass Effect 3: Earth DLC for the game’s multiplayer mode would be released next week on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles for free.

Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer mode has been a big success and BioWare managed to keep players hooked on the experience by organizing special weekend operations and by releasing free downloadable content.

Now, after seeing two DLC packs appear in recent months, in the form of Resurgence and Rebellion, the studio has officially confirmed the already-leaked Mass Effect 3: Earth add-on.

As we already heard thanks to several reports, the DLC brings quite a few new things, ranging from new maps and characters, to new weapons, upgrades, as well as a Platinum difficulty level and a new objective type.

Check out the full list of things included in the Earth DLC below.

Three New Maps – With the fate of the galaxy at stake, Earth’s military efforts have concentrated on three strategic locations. Defend Firebase Rio, home to the N7 training facility, along with Firebase Vancouver and Firebase London in the last stand for mankind.

New Array of Playable N7 Characters – Step into the boots of the Alliance’s most elite military units with the N7 Demolisher Engineer, N7 Destroyer Soldier, N7 Fury Adept, N7 Sentinel Paladin, N7 Shadow Infiltrator and N7 Slayer Vanguard.

New Powerful and Unique Weapons – Lay waste to the enemy by unlocking the N7 Piranha Shotgun, N7 Typhoon Assault Rifle and Acolyte Pistol.

New Powerful Upgrades – Outfit your weapons with 12 new modifications and fortify your gear with 11 unique upgrades to defeat even the toughest foes.

New “Platinum” Difficulty – Conquer bronze in your sleep? Take down Silver with one hand? Beat Gold without breaking a sweat? Then grab your friends and test your skills on the brand-new Platinum difficulty.

New In-Mission Objective – Randomly occurring during waves 3, 6 and 10, this new objective will challenge teams to keep a targeted agent alive by protecting and escorting them to a designated extraction zone on each map. Mass Effect 3: Earth DLC is out on July 17 for the PC and Xbox 360 all over the world, as well as for the PS3 in North America. European PS3 owners need to wait until July 18 to get the free add-on.

As always, the maps will be automatically available, while the characters need to be unlocked by purchasing in-game equipment packs.

Until then, check out three screenshots of the new characters and maps below.
