Free Lumosity Brain-Training App Released for iPhone, iPod touch

Lumosity has announced the release of its fifth iPhone application, Lumosity Brain Trainer. The app requires an iPhone or iPod touch running iPhone OS version 3.1.2, and offers a complete brain-training experience in a mobile format, according to its developers. The cognitive neuroscience company behind Lumosity.com is Lumos Labs.

"For years, Lumosity has worked closely with the world's leading neuroscientists from top universities — including Stanford, UCSF and Berkeley — to create an effective, engaging cognitive enhancement program," Romain David, director of Mobile Products at Lumos Labs, said. "We are excited to make it available to iPhone and iPod touch users."

According to its makers, Lumosity Brain Trainer has improved the memory of its users, enhanced their mood, induced better solving skills and spawned an ability to think more quickly. The app includes seven brain games designed to enhance cognitive abilities, such as memory, processing speed, attention, flexibility, and the ability to solve problems.

Those who download and install the app on their Apple handset are encouraged to play one session per day. Having been designed to improve different brain functions, each session has three games, while the first five sessions are free. To continue using the service (full access), a subscription is required. Besides improving your cognitive abilities, Lumosity Brain Trainer also provides valuable knowledge about neuroscience and how technology can improve these skills.
