Xbox One owners can use the Internet Explorer web browser on their console to play free HTML5 games, and already at least one such site has appeared to promote this feature.

The new Xbox One console from Microsoft is a bit more open when it comes to online entertainment as it features a custom version of the Internet Explorer browser from the company.

Even though access to the browser is restricted through the Xbox Live Gold subscription, quite a lot of users are enjoying the nifty feature.

Now, one new website, XboxIE, taking advantage of the HTML5 capabilities in Internet Explorer for Xbox One, has appeared online and has created a special collection of free HTML5 games that can be played right on the console.

Bear in mind, however, that a lot of the games aren't geared towards using a controller, while others have just minimum support, so issues and annoyances might be encountered.

It's unlikely that the new browser based feature will be attractive to Xbox One players in the long-term mainly because they like more structure experiences on their consoles.

But Microsoft might adopt the idea and recruit some of the developers to create more engaging titles for the platform.
