Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One and Xbox 360 users will be able to enjoy later today, April 8, the first episode of season 4 of Game of Thrones for free, thanks to a special deal with HBO.

For quite some time, Microsoft has been pushing its Xbox Video movie and TV show streaming service to users of different platforms, from the Xbox 360, to the new Xbox One, as well as on PCs with Windows 8 and smartphones with Windows Phone.

Now, in order to make up for the lack of an HBO Go application on the Xbox One, the company has confirmed on Twitter that Game of Thrones season 4 episode 1 will be made available for free later today, April 8.

All Xbox Video users will be able to watch the highly awaited season premiere of HBO's cult hit for free, so Xbox 360, Windows Phone, or Windows 8 users will also be able to get in on the fun.

What's more, thanks to the latest improvements to the Xbox Video service, you can start watching the video on one platform and continue from where you left off on another easily and without hassle. Xbox 360 owners, however, will have to install the latest firmware update to get in on the fun.
