With the introduction of Zune 2.0 lineup of devices, Microsoft came with diversified offerings confirming the rumors circulating ahead of the end October 2007. The Zune 80GB hard-drive models were accompanied at launch by the new ultraportable Zune 4GB; and Zune 8GB flash-based models. The Zune 1.0 digital media player, delivered in the fall of 2006, failed to dislodge a consistent user base way from under the iPhone, however, Zune 2.0 enjoyed a superior reception and even
made Microsoft fail to deliver all Zune Originals commands in time for Valentine's Day, due to high demand. The Redmond company ended up offering free 80GB Zunes for customers that did not receive their commands in time.

And now, Microsoft is exercising its Zune generosity a tad more with the "Zune a Day Giveaway" connecting the digital media player with Widows Live Hotmail for Mobile. Here is what you have to do to enter, and get a chance to win a Zune 8GB each day between February 9 and March 31, 2008:

"Access Windows Live Hotmail from your mobile device by following one of the 3 methods below.
Open your mobile browser and enter 'http://mobile.msn.com'. To receive an SMS text message with a link to the Mobile Site, enter your mobile number at the Sweepstakes Website. Your mobile phone provider's standard data charges will apply. Locate Hotmail on your mobile device. Sign in to the Windows Live Hotmail service using your existing Passport or Windows Live ID. Send an e-mail from your Windows Live Hotmail address to WINAZUNE@live.com with 'Go Zune' in the subject line. To enter the sweepstakes without using a mobile device, you may also enter by sending an e-mail from a PC to WINAZUNE@live.com from a Windows Live Hotmail account with 'Go Zune' in the subject line," Microsoft informed.

As you can very well read, you don't actually have to access Windows Live Hotmail from a mobile device. You can also very well do it from your PC. As long as you sent the email in question, you will still qualify to win a 8GB Zune. The catch? Well, in order to be eligible for the sweepstakes, you have to be one of the "legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older who are registered Windows Live Hotmail users."
