A few weeks back, ESET released a new Beta version of the ESET Mobile Security for Android applications, so as to provide users with the possibility to get an early taste of the features that the upcoming version 3.0 of the app will have to offer.

The updated application comes with a nice range of new options, including the integration of Anti-Theft into the company’s web interface at my.eset.com.

With this feature, users will be able to locate missing or stolen smartphones, while also having the possibility to remotely wipe all stored information, including SD card, in order to preserve security and privacy.

Moreover, there is also the option to trigger a remote alarm, or to snap photos using the handset’s front and back cameras, in addition to being able to send customized messages to the potential finder of the phone.

There are also new features included in the app, along with improvements for existing ones, such as a series of UI changes, improved Calls & SMS Filter, and the like.

The new ESET Mobile Security BETA release is available for download through the Google Play Store, yet users interested in taking it for a spin will need to join the dedicated Google+ community of beta testers.

After joining the community, they will need to go to this page to enter the ESET Mobile Security BETA Test and to click on the Become a tester button. Next, they will be able to grab the application from the Google Play store.

To encourage people to join the aforementioned Google+ community, ESET has announced an exclusive offer for Android users willing to join the beta testing program, with free one-year licenses included.

To earn a license, users will have to offer feedback on their experience with the beta application, ESET explains. Should the feedback be good, the company will reward you with the free subscription.

Moreover, users should know that they will be able to enjoy the features of the ESET Mobile Security BETA app until July 1, 2014, which means that there will be plenty of time to provide feedback on the app.

Although only a Beta version, the ESET Mobile Security for Android application is fully functional, which means that users will be able to install it without putting their devices at risk.

Those who would like to learn some more info on the application should head over to the aforementioned Google+ community page. Specific details on how to join the beta testing program are available there as well.
