14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has revealed the new titles that are coming for free in October to Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners via the Games with Gold program, confirming that new indie title Chariot is making its debut on the Xbox One, while Xbox 360 users can enjoy Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Darksiders 2.
Games with Gold has treated Microsoft's Xbox Live Gold subscribers to a variety of free games over the last year, with plenty of old and new titles being offered free of charge to users, first on Xbox 360, and starting with this summer on the Xbox One.
Chariot is free for Xbox One users
The month of October is no exception, as Microsoft has just confirmed on the Xbox Wire just what titles are going to be available for free to Gold subscribers of its Xbox Live service.
For Xbox One owners, Microsoft is debuting a brand new indie game on the new home console, in the form of Chariot, which will be free to download throughout the month of October.
The title, which is going to be released as part of the ID@Xbox program, comes from Canadian studio Frima and promises to deliver a cooperative platformer experience that's perfect for those who enjoy gaming on a couch with a buddy or just alone.
Players take on the role of a princess and her fiancé, as they need to maneuver the coffin of the departed king through a series of levels. While the premise may seem a bit morbid, the coffin acts more like a chariot and should provide some great gameplay throughout all the 25 levels.
"Filled to the brim with emergent physics-based gameplay, Chariot offers hours of exciting exploration, fast-paced ride sequences and mountains upon mountains of loot," Microsoft explains.
Xbox 360 owners get Bad Company 2 and Darksiders 2
For Xbox 360 owners, Microsoft has two great titles prepared for October, in the form of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Darksiders 2.
First up, between October 1 and 15, Gold subscribers can get Battlefield: Bad Company 2, one of the most impressive titles in the first-person shooter series made by DICE. The title delivered a great blend of a witty story that continued the adventures of the Bad Company from the first game and an intense multiplayer that focused heavily on environmental destruction.
Afterwards, between October 16 and October 31, Xbox 360 users can enjoy Darksiders 2, a stellar open world hack and slash game with plenty of puzzles, intense combat, and epic quests. Guide Death, one of the horsemen of the apocalypse, through a huge environment and save the honor of your brother, War, the protagonist of the first Darksiders.
